Peaks — Sphere
Spikes sprout along the normals of a latitude–longitude ball and breathe as a noise field slides over the surface — a rainbow urchin flexing its quills.
A ball bristles with spikes of unequal length, one sprouting outward from every crossing of a latitude–longitude lattice; long quills and low nubs mix into a sea-urchin silhouette. As a noise field slides over the surface the spikes lengthen and retract, and the whole body rocks a few degrees on its axes.
Each spike is dots laid along the local outward direction, thin at the tip and swelling to the base, with a contrast curve on the surface noise so low values flatten to bumps while highs throw long quills. Short spikes are drawn with fewer dots — the level-of-detail economy shared across the series — the poles are drawn once instead of once per meridian, and per-point hue blends colour noise with the same surface field, tying a quill's colour to its length.
