Kinetic — Plane
A ruled triangle mesh bulges toward the viewer wherever a pointer hovers, like fingers pushing a sheet from behind; the webcam image can ride the sheet as a texture.
A sheet of triangulated cells covers the frame as a flat, even wireframe. Wherever an influence point sits — the mouse, or hands tracked through the webcam — the surrounding vertices lift out of the plane, raising a rounded bump that glides across the sheet as the pointer moves and relaxes flat behind it.
The sheet is a fixed grid of triangles whose every vertex measures its distance to the nearest pointer, maps it to a 0-to-1 proximity and eases a z offset from zero up to a set depth with an overshooting curve, so each bump carries a springy lip. The same grid carries UV coordinates, so the webcam feed or any image can be stretched across it as a texture — the relief then reads as a portrait pushed out of its own surface — and the pointers can be marked by spheres floating above the mesh.
