Torsade — Juggle

A slim rainbow rope winds down the frame while its heavier, dimmer twin keeps breaking into a handful of giant beads and fusing back into a strand.

Two copies of the same winding path share the canvas: a slim strand that stays a continuous rope of scrolling rainbow, and a heavier, dimmed one behind it that keeps coming apart. Every few beats the heavy strand collapses into five or six oversized balls that tumble along the wave, then knits itself back into a tube as the balls multiply and merge.

Each strand is nothing but dots stamped along a straight vertical line, pushed sideways by sine and cosine offsets whose amplitude itself breathes over time. The juggling is a sampling trick: the number of stamps on one strand cycles through a coarse-to-fine sequence, so at five samples the rope reads as juggled balls and at a hundred and fifty it reads as an unbroken strand. Weight and brightness are dealt out per row, which is why the juggler is fat and dark while its twin stays thin and vivid.
