Noise lines — Circle

Two hundred concentric ink rings wobble around a shared centre, bunching into ridges and clearings like the grain of a sawn trunk.

2dnoiseblack and white

A stack of concentric closed contours, thin dark strokes on warm paper, each ring a circle whose radius is pushed in and out by Perlin noise. Neighbouring rings drift slightly out of register, so they bunch into dense ridges and open into calm gaps, and over the loop those ridges slowly roll around the disc.

Each contour closes without a seam because the noise is sampled on a circle in noise space — the cosine and sine of the drawing angle are the sampling coordinates, so the last point meets the first exactly. Every ring reads the same field at its own phase offset and a slightly larger base radius, which keeps neighbours correlated while letting them diverge. The time input follows a cosine of the loop clock, walking the noise out and back so the final frame is the first.
