Flowers shaders v2 — Pipes
The stack of flat discs dropped for real 3D: a bundle of solid pipes winding helically around a shared axis, shaded like anodised metal.
v1 faked volume by stacking circles. This one drops the disc stack entirely and renders geometry — solid tubes that wind helically around a shared axis and rotate around one another, a twisted rope or a DNA braid depending on how tightly you wind it.
The oil-slick palette carries over, but now it shades a curved surface, so the thin-film colour shifts with the viewing angle the way it would on a real soap film or an anodised tube. That surface is where the whole braid family starts: almost every sketch after this one reuses this pipe vocabulary.
